Living After Faith?… hmmm, thought I would share how things are with my atheism.
Well, other than my sister disowning me, losing my dads respect, and my mom acting like it was a disease before she passed away, things are kind of okay. I still have 5 other family members who are sort of okay with me being an atheist. It’s still sinking in with them though.
I sort of stop caring about what others thought about it, because if they truly love me, then they will get over it. If not, then oh well, have a nice life… you know? I believe this is one area when you get fed up with the religious junk, then you just have to put your foot down and speak up for yourself.
As far as not having the “faith” anymore, IT’S GREAT! I feel free as a bird. It’s like lifting a big heavy weight off my shoulders AND chest. I’m enjoying every breath I take. I take my life more seriously now. Death may come early, so I’m going to make the best of my life with as much happiness as I can find. I also take my doctors advice more seriously now, and I actually listen to what he is saying (something I didn’t care about before, because I thought I was going to heaven).
Anywho… great show again guys. Keep up the good work.

Hi guys,
I enjoyed this episode a lot. Having been raised as an atheist, I never had to go through a deconversion period, so I always find other people’s stories of transitioning away from religion really interesting. My experience as a “cultural Jew” also matches Becky’s pretty closely.
However, the episode did leave me with some pretty serious nagging questions. What happened to Rich after his deconversion? The way he left it — he’s in his 40′s, has just lost his job, family, and community. He assured us that he bounced back, so that’s good, but what happened next? Where does he work now? What does an ex-minister learn how to do as a second career?
If you could get Rich to fill in the gaps or appear on a future episode to wrap it up, I’d be very grateful.
