When you have your morality debate, make sure you start by having both sides explain what morality is, without using the M word.
That’s the most important insight I gained from reading The Moral Landscape; that ‘morality’ is an ambiguous term that rarely means the same thing between two people, and talking about morality without agreeing on what it means, makes a pointless conversation.
If it’s any further consolation, decisions issued by the 6th Circuit were reversed by the Supreme Court 24 out of 25 times from October 2008 – June 2013. Citation: http://www.scotusblog.com/2013/06/october-term-2012-summary-memo/
