I have copped some flak about using ‘coming out’ but I still think it is, for some people at least, as momentous an event for atheists. One I heard of last week, lost his family, his friends, his accomodation and ended up living in a car as his boss reduced the days he could work. Short of physical danger it is hard to think of another way this poor bastard could be detrimentially affected.
I am not sure if your ‘atheism is a decision’ qualification is valid. I cannot imagine believing in any religious idea. I can’t believe. So in what sense am I deciding to be this?
