Darwin is viewed as a figure of revolutionary importance in biology and medicine, so much so that people who misunderstand the secular world see him as a scientific prophet. Sam, Rebecca and Beth visit this misunderstanding with rhetorical cudgels.

Oh, and uhhh [clears throat]… All hail the mighty prophet Darwin! Author of the Holy word found in, “On the Origin of Species”, which we must keep Holy. Let’s bow our heads and pray to the Great Evolution Gods and Goddesses… Dear Lords, we are gathered here today with our brothers and sisters from the real Tree of Life. We have faith you will guide our species onto greater branches into unique forms, to live and prosper on the natural resources of this world, which you have so generously used in your work. We are grateful for the chances of life you managed to shape through the spirit of natural selection. We are grateful for the wisdom you bestowed upon Brother Darwin through the ever so subtle changes of the brain, so he could tell us how you do your work with whatever was available in the environment. We ask you, Dear Lords, please continue the Holy process of Natural Selection, For without it, we wouldn’t be here. Also, I wouldn’t mind having a third eye in the back of my head, so I can see those crazy christians sneaking up on me with their hellfire and brimestone tactics.

Sam appearing on Equal Time Radio Friday 6/21
In promotion of this Friday’s benefit show supporting Ask an Atheist, Sam will be on the local political talk show “Equal Time Radio,” which also airs on KLAY 1180 AM here in Tacoma, Fridays at noon. In addition to raising awareness and money for Ask an Atheist, Sam will likely talk a little bit about something he doesn’t mention on Ask an Atheist proper– politics.
